Three farmers were killed and multiple others were injured in an alleged gunman attack on the Mgbuji community in Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo local government area of Enugu State.

On November 22, 2024, yesterday, the attack took place.

As seen in the video, one of the victims was killed inside his rice farm while carrying a basket of cassava that he had picked right before the assault.

Speaking to reporters, community leader Ogenyi Odoh lamented that Fulani herdsmen killed three farmers, destroying hectares of rice farms ripe for harvest.

The attacks and destruction of farm crops, particularly rice farms, began about two weeks ago.

The situation is exacerbated by the fact that the wounded victims were denied treatment at Enugu’s state Teaching Hospital (ESUT Parklane) due to an ongoing workers’ strike.

Odoh called on the federal and Enugu State governments to intervene immediately, revealing that soldiers deployed to strategic locations in Eha-Amufu were withdrawn without explanation before the attacks resumed.
