FG gives governors one week deadline to submit reports on flood prone states

In response to the recurring incidents of floods in some parts of the country, the federal government has issued a directive to states that have not yet submitted their vulnerability status reports.

These states have been instructed to submit their reports within a week.

The directive was delivered to the concerned states during the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting held on Thursday.

The meeting, chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima, emphasised the importance of promptly assessing and addressing the vulnerability of these states to mitigate the impact of future flood occurrences.

Briefing State House correspondents on some of their deliberations at NEC, the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, said only 15 states had complied with an initial directive to submit their report to a five man ad hoc committee on flooding constituted by the immediate past administration.
