The landlord in Anambra reimburses the new tenant’s rent after learning that he is from Ebonyi State.
The affected tenant, pastor Ifeanyichukwu Eluu, wrote about his experience on the internet. What he wrote was
“My previous experience in obtaining an apartment in the state of Anambra was not pleasant. I had given the caretaker my entire payment for the apartment and was getting ready to move in the next day after signing the required tenancy agreement.
“However, there was a later review because we had stayed in a hotel for a longer period of time.” We therefore had to move into the property as soon as possible, and we told the caretaker of this. We hurried to acquire the necessities to furnish the house immediately, and that same evening, we moved in.
“At about midnight, I noticed an alert showing the precise amount of money I gave the caregiver. As soon as I called him, he informed me that the landlord had returned the money after learning that we were from the state known as “Abakaliki,” in Ebonyi.
“I was deeply offended, ashamed, and alarmed by the degree of prejudice directed towards my fellow brothers.
“I finally got a house but then the man asked where I’m demand I told him “Afikpo”. Then he said, okay, I know Afikpo, they are partly Abia state, I can consider you, that’s how we settled.
Going through this route just to get a house to live in doesn’t make me happy and it seems bias.
“Please, let the concerned handlers review this in time, hence the maxim “Igbo bu ofu”.
