Justice Sentences Former FCMB Manager, Nwachukwu Placidus To Prison

Former First City Monument Bank manager Nwachukwu Placidus has been sentenced to 121 years in prison by Justice S. N. Odili of the Anambra State High Court in Onitsha, Anambra State.

Placidus was found guilty of using N112,100,000 of a customer’s fixed deposit funds for personal gain.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Enugu Zonal Command, arraigned Placidus on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, on 16-count charges of forgery, stealing, obtaining by false pretense, and uttering.

On Saturday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission announced this in a statement posted to its Facebook page.

Placidus, according to the statement, pleaded not guilty to the charges after hearing them read.

“During the trial, the EFCC, through its counsel, Mainforce Adaka Ekwu, presented four witnesses and several relevant documents, which were admitted as evidence.

“The court further ordered the convict to return the aforementioned amount to his victim, Idemili Microfinance Bank.”
