One of the biggest reality TV shows in Africa, Big Brother Naija, has opened applications for the next set of participants in the season 7 edition.

The show, which has produced winners like Mercy Eke (season 4), Laycon (season 5) and Whitemoney (season 6) has officially begun its audition for season 7.

This was announced on the BBNaija official Instagram page on Sunday.

The announcement read, “Biggie is calling you back home. #BBNaija Season 7 auditions are officially open

“Are you the next Efe, Miracle, Mercy, Laycon or Whitemoney? This is your time to show Biggie what you’re all about.” 

Contestants are to visit the official Big Brother Naija website to apply as contestants.

Troops of the Nigerian Army under the auspices of Operation Hadin Kai have bombed a convoy of Abubakar Sarki, a Commander of Boko Haram in Sambisa forest, killing scores of terrorists who were with him.

Also, 10 farmers, who were cultivating on their farms in Udawa community were among the abductees. A resident of the community who confirmed the incident in a telephone interview said going to the farm has become risky.

The former Vice President of the country made the vow during an interactive session with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) delegates in Rivers State on Saturday.

Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, has visited the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

The governor quoted the IPOB leader as saying that e would preach peace when released.

Soludo made this known in a post on his Facebook page on Saturday night after visiting the IPOB leader.

He posted, “I visited Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, yesterday, (Friday, 13th May, 2022) to felicitate with him and also as part of the wider consultations with critical stakeholders in search of lasting peace and security in the South East.

Police personnel attached to Nsukka Police Division, on Saturday, nabbed a suspected  spying drone pilot, Michael Ali, filming a cleric’s home in Alor Unor, Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State. 

The suspect, from Aguibeje in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State, upon interrogation, claimed that he was filming the cleric’s home for a documentary, adding that he was working on Nsukka landscape.

When asked why he chose to stay in the bush to control his drone, he explained to newsmen that he was learning how to fly it, adding that it was a mistake to have focused his equipment on the cleric’s home and church building.

A young man identified as Ejike Odo has reportedly been killed by suspected herdsmen for attempting to save his sister from being raped in Okpulugwu Agu-Amede community in Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State in a renewed attack.

According to a source, community sources said that the recent incident which occurred on Friday would be the seventh brutal attack on the agrarian community since January 2022.

Odo was said to have gotten a report that his sister who went to a farm was attacked and raped by Fulani herdsmen while she was returning from the farm, and he rushed to the farm to rescue her.

“Unfortunately, the herdsmen who were about four overpowered him, stabbed several times before slitting his throat,” a community leader who gave his name as Justus Nwonye said.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested 3 suspects in connection to the criminal conspiracy and the gruesome murder of one Terungwa Stephenie a 26 years old Corper of City homes estate Lokogoma.

The arrest was made following the deployment of Tactical and Intelligence assets at the Command’s disposal, attached to the Homicide department of the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID). The suspected trio namely; Jenifer Tsembe a 26 years old female, Monday Simon (a.k.a Black) a 36 years old male, and Solomon Abu a male of about 35 years of age, all residents of Oguta lake Maitama area of the FCT voluntarily stated their involvement in the perpetration of the dastardly act. The investigation is ongoing to unravel other groundbreaking facts, while effort has been doubled to apprehend the fleeing suspect(s) . The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation. 

The Commissioner of Police FCT Command CP Babaji Sunday psc while applauding the gallantry and result yielding effort of the investigating team, enjoined the good people of the Territory not to relent in cooperating with the Police, especially as touching the rendition of prompt and actionable intelligence. He further stated that the Police will not rest on its ores until unscrupulous elements are being fished off their hideouts and flushed out of the territory as a whole. 

Indications have emerged that former President Goodluck Jonathan may not contest the 2023 presidential election on the All Progressives Congress platform.

Reports from a reliable source that the N100 million nomination and expression of interest form bought for the former president by the Fulani community earlier this week, has yet to be completed and returned as the deadline ends today.

“The former president is considering many things and we cannot say if indeed the form bought for him has been completed in the first instance or if in deed, he is even keen on running on the platform of the APC,” the source told Vanguard on Friday afternoon.

Operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command have arrested a serving councillor caught in possession of an AK-47 rifle in the Giwa Local Government Area of the state. The suspect, Abdulrahman Adamu, who is a serving councillor in the Soba Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was arrested by the operatives of Operation Puff Adder II attached to the Kaduna Police Command during a routine patrol along Galadimawa Road.

The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG), on Thursday, lambasted members of Igbo Elders’ Consultative Forum (IECF) and other groups clamouring for the emergence of a president of South-East extraction, saying they are going about their agitation in a wrong manner.

The CNG alleged that the Igbo elders constituted a serious security threat to the country, adding that their recent warning that any attempt to elude the South-East geopolitical zone of the presidency in 2023 would rupture Nigeria’s corporate existence betrayed their desperation.

Three soldiers have been arrested by military authorities for selling arms and ammunition to bandits and terrorists in Zamfara State. Intelligence reports has it the arrest followed investigations into a case of missing 425 rounds of ammunition at Forward Operations Base (FOB) in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.. The arrested soliders Nura after an intelligent interrogation by the authority of the NA confessed how they go about their steady transaction with the bandits in Zamfara state, they only disclosed that they sell 100 rounds of the 7.62mm special ammunition at the rate of N100,000 and he is willing to sell more to the bandits.. He also mentioned his colleagues in the army who he carries out the operation with as Lance Corporal Ehoda Monday and Lance Corporal Shehu Mohammed
