Vladimir Putin will undergo surgery for cancer, it has been claimed.

Vladimir Putin is set to undergo an operation for cancer and will hand over power to his hardline spy chief, a Kremlin insider has reportedly claimed.

The Russian President’s health has been source of considerable speculation amid reports that he is battling both abdominal cancer and Parkinson’s Disease.

But now it has been reported that 69-year-old Putin could soon go under the knife, with power transferred to Nikolai Patrushev.

Shadowy Patrushev, 70, is seen as a key architect of the Ukraine war strategy and the man who convinced Putin that Kyiv was awash with neo-Nazis.

Security boss Nikolai Patrushev will be in charge, says the a Kremlin insider.

The claim was reported on Russian media outlet General SVR, which first raised issues of Putin’s health around 18-months ago.

They quote an anonymous former high-ranking Kremlin military figure as saying: “Putin has discussed that he will be undergoing medical procedures.”

In video in which the source, whose voice appears to have been disguised, reveals that “doctors insist that he needs an operation, but the date has not yet been determined”.

“He will have surgery and while he is incapacitated,” he says, adding that he “thinks it’ll be for a short time”.

The source said the choice of spymaster Patrushev, which came after a two-hour “heart to heart” with Putin, was the “worst option”.

President Putin was seen slouched during a meeting with Sergei Shoigu earlier this month.

He went on to speculate that Putin’s health problems could deteriorate.

“What if, all of a sudden, Putin manifests particularly severe health problems?,” he said.

“We know very well that he has cancer, and Parkinson’s disease, as we have said many times.

“It was possible to contain it for some time, but now the course of the disease is progressing.”

When exactly Putin will go into hospital is unclear but it is unlikely to before May 9, when he presides over the grandiose Red Victory Day commemoration of the defeat of Hitler.

The governor of Imo state, Senator Hope Uzodinma disclosed this at the southeast delegates meeting while receiving the honorable minister of transportation, Rotimi Chibuike Amechi, who was in Imo State on a special visit to solicit support from the delegates. He, therefore, called on the party faithful to strengthen their commitment to consolidating the success already achieved.

In his speech, Hon. Chibuike Amechi appealed to the delegates to vote wisely in the presidential primary election. He noted that if given the mandate, his government would work with all stakeholders to ensure inclusiveness and accountability to the people. Mr. Amechi also noted that the government is working towards completing the ongoing construction and rebuilding of the railways to aid logistics, especially across the industrial hubs in the region.

Earlier in his welcome speech, the national vice-chairman, southeast, Dr. Ijeoma Arodiogbu expressed gratitude to the Imo State governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma for the excellent leadership of the party in the region, while calling on aggrieved members to return for reconciliation.

Other speakers at the event include the APC chairmen from the five states of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo. The Enugu state chairman of APC, the Hon. Barr. Ugochukwu Agballah said the region is ready.

The event was well attended by the zonal and state delegates from the region, and high-ranking party stakeholders including Senator Dalhatu Sangari, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, Senator Abubakar Putari, Senator Andrew Uchendu, Senator Anyaogu Eze, Senator Sonny Ogborji, a former national auditor of the party, Dr. George Muoghalu, amongst others, who accompanied the presidential aspirant on the visit.

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo, residents of South East and groups in the area have condemned the heavy presence of the military and personnel of other security agencies on South East roads.

They lamented that the numerous tortuous and vicious illegal checkpoints on the dilapidated roads had made life unbearable for their people.

Saturday Sun learnt that the issue would be slated for discussion on May 5, as the Imeobi Ohanaeze deliberates on the 2023 Presidency and the security situation in the South East.

A report released by a rights group, the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety) alleged that a whopping sum of N306bn had been paid at gunpoint in the past 50 months covering August 2015 and October 2019 by citizens of Eastern Nigeria to estimated 600 military and 6,300 police roadblocks in the South East and South-South regions.

A 2018 report by the group said the security agencies made over N100billion in three years by extorting road users in those Southeast checkpoints.

Disturbed by the ugly trend, President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, George Obiozor, recently hosted the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division, Maj-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, at the National Secretariat of the body.

During their meeting, Ohanaeze Ndigbo explained to the Commandant the inhuman treatments the civilians undergo under the very armed forces whose primary duty was to protect them.

Obiozor lamented various forms of indignities that the people of South East encounter in the hands of the security operatives and demanded from the GOC, a security network that conformed to the best global practices.  National Publicity Secretary of the group, Chief Alex Ogbonnia, yesterday, said the situation appeared to have further aggravated with checkpoints seen in every two kilometres in the region.

According to him, this was at variance with what was obtainable in other parts of the country. Ogbonnia gave instance of Ohanaeze Ndigbo leadership’s recent visit to Abeokuta, Ogun State to celebrate with former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his 85th birthday.

He said: “We travelled by road from Lagos to Abeokuta, Ogun State, to celebrate Chief Olusegun Obasanjo at 85. To my chagrin, there was no single roadblock from Lagos to Abeokuta. In contra-distinction, every two kilometers in the South East has a roadblock. You would see an army roadblock, police roadblock, Federal Road Safety Corps roadblock, Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) roadblock, NDLEA roadblock or a combination of all, etc. Most disturbingly, each of the checkpoints extorts money, openly and shamelessly, from the road users.”
Saturday Sun gathered that highly placed Nigerians had, on various occasions, drawn the attention of the GOC and the Commissioners of Police in the South East to the illicit activities of soldiers and policemen, whom they said had turned the highways and rural roads into a cash cow by extorting heavy fees from motorists passing through the roads.

Several Igbo leaders who passed through the road to Igboukwu in Aguata L.G.A, Anambra State, for the burial of former Governor Chukwuemeka Ezeife’s wife, Njideka, recently, had unpalatable stories to tell.

An elder statesman who attended a programme from Owerri, Imo State, recounted how they stood in traffic for more than one hour at a checkpoint in Ihiala, on the Onitsha/Owerri Expressway. “The traffic ground to a complete halt as there was no movement from Owerri to the Onitsha end. All the vehicles going to Owerri from Onitsha and verse versa all had their engines switched off. When a driver asked one of the hawkers selling water and snacks what caused the gridlock she said that it had been shut down till 8pm because the military men at the checkpoint had gone to pray and to break their fast. Therefore, the road had to be shut down. She said it was normal.”

Despite the pronouncement by Justice Binta Nyako of a Federal High Court in Abuja, the Department of State Services has not allowed the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to change his clothes, while he was also facing starvation, head of his legal team and human rights activist, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has said.

Ejiofor said these in a statement issued after the routine visit to the DSS Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday evening.

He said, “In line with the court-ordered guideline, we conducted the routine visit to our indefatigable client – Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu at the DSS Headquarters today (Thursday).

“Pertinent concerns on legal matters of engaging urgency were frankly discussed with Onyendu, and the outcomes were fruitful.
“Onyendu’s continued use of same clothing is increasingly worrisome as the DSS personnel have blatantly denied him change of clothing in their usual flagrant disobedience of court orders.”

Ejiofor noted that at the last adjourned date, being April 8, 2022, the issue was raised and the Judge ordered that Onyendu’s clothes should be taken along by the DSS after the proceedings, and should be promptly handed over to him upon their return to the DSS facility.

But Ejiofor said, “Unfortunately, it is utterly disheartening to note that up until the time of our visit today, Onyendu has not been handed those clothes for a change.

“Despite a clear and unequivocal directive from His Lordship to the DSS’ lawyer to ensure that the court order is obeyed, the DSS in their usual style roundly ignored and treated it with utmost disdain, as they are yet to comply with this recurrent court order, requiring Onyendu’s change of clothing.

“We were also, reliably informed by Onyendu that his meals are no longer served regularly. Onyendu barely eats once a day, and this situation is not helping his deteriorating medical condition.

“The lawless DSS personnel have remained adamant with the manner in which they treat court orders with levity and disdain, which is totally unacceptable as no one is above the law anywhere in the world.

“Be assured Umuchineke that we, in the legal team are not resting on our oars towards ensuring that these infractions are addressed with immediate effect.

“Consistent with his nature of gratitude, Onyendu thanks you all, millions of his supporters, and Ezigbo Umuchineke for relentlessly standing tall, it is not taken for granted by Onyendu.

“Also, Onyendu specifically requested that I inform you all, that you are in his prayers always too. Above all, he requests that you should all be assured that it will end in victory in no distant time.”

Since the beginning of the electoral season with the announcement of desire to run for president and the acquisition of forms, all thoughts regarding other presidential hopefuls’ supporters have focused solely on how Tinubu would be shamed, as if they are the delegates they are supposed to be attending.

All of their campaign techniques revolve around TELEMUNDO, a plot about the cabal tormenting and frustrating Tinubu.

How their aspirant is the one who has been anointed. Instead of pushing for their “unstructured” aspirants, some supporters are busy talking about Tinubu this and Tinubu that as if it is the language that the delegates will hear.

If you don’t know the song, go listen to it and thank me later; it inspires and repels the trolls. Telemundo isn’t on because the boy is too busy.

Anyway, Asiwaju of Nigeria, with apologies to Oga Dangote, will be picking his presidential form today, Abuja is already under lockdown, and the game has begun.
