Police in Bauchi State have arrested nine kidnap suspects and rescued one victim at Maina Maji Village in Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state.

Police spokesman in the state, SP Ahmed Wakil, stated in Bauchi on Friday that the raid on the kidnappers’ hideout was conducted by police operatives in collaboration with some vigilantes.

The Spokesman for the Katsina State Police Command, Gambo Isah, confirmed the incident, insisting he should be given time to find out the actual numbers of those kidnapped.

He said, ” Yes, it is true but give me time to find out the actual numbers of those kidnapped as not all the passengers were kidnapped.”

Troops Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have eliminated more than 57 terrorists in different operations conducted from Aug. 11 to 25 in the North East, Defence Headquarters says.

The Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Musa Danmadami, made this known at a bi-weekly news briefing of the Defence Headquarters on Thursday in Abuja.

Danmadami said the operations were conducted through land and air raids on the Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) enclaves in Borno and Yobe.

He said the operation also led to the killing of unspecified number of terrorists in a number of airstrikes, with more than 18 of them seriously wounded.

The Kogi State judiciary has uncovered 268 ghost workers on the payroll of the state High Court. 

The state Acting Chief Judge, Justice Josiah Majebi, had set up a Staff Verification Committee to probe the nominal roll of the High Court. 

The Chairman of the committee, Justice Mohammed Etsu Umar, disclosed this on Thursday, August 25, while presenting the report to the Acting Chief Judge, in Lokoja. 

The committee also recommended the termination of all ‘illegal’ appointments into the services of the Kogi State judiciary between January 2021 and June 2022. 

Ogun police arrest 23-year-old lady for allegedly selling her 3-weeks old baby for N600k

Men of the Ogun State Police Command on August 18 arrested a 23 years old lady identified as Mary Olatayo for allegedly selling her three weeks old baby at the rate of six hundred thousand naira. 


The suspect was arrested following a complaint from the father of the baby, who reported at Mowe divisional headquarters that he met Mary Olatayo sometime ago and they started dating each other. He told the police that Mary got pregnant in the process and he rented an apartment for her where she lived till she delivered a baby boy.

The traditional ruler of Umuowa Autonomous Community in Orlu local government area of Imo State, HRH Eze Magnus Agbahiwe Duruigbo has been abducted.

The abductors also shot and killed at least three of his cabinet chiefs at the attack on June 16th 2022.

The situation threw the community into confusion as locals were seen in twos discussing the development.

Several efforts to get the reaction of the Imo state police command through its spokesman, Mike Abattam proved abortive.

The Nigeria military at the weekend bombarded the camp of Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) leader, Fiya Ba Yuram.

Scores of terrorists were killed in the raid conducted in Sambisa Forest by Nigerian Air Force (NAF) jets.

One of the locations struck was a camp suspectedly used for the training of ISWAP fighters.

Ebonyi women, under the auspices of Federated Ebonyi Women Organisation, have alleged the disruption of their August Meeting by the Ebubeagu Security outfit in the state.

This was as the women petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Usman; and the International Federation of Female Lawyers and rights organisations, adding that their rights of freedom of association was trampled upon by the state 


A video of some police officers in Kwara state staging a protest over unpaid salaries has made the rounds on social media.

The video showed some of the officers holding leaves as a show of solidarity with the protest.

Reacting to the viral video, the state police command in a statement released by its spokesperson, SP Okasanmi Ajayi, dissociated itself from the protesting officers.
