An unidentified Nigerian woman seeking asylum in Cyprus has been allegedly gang-raped at the Pournara reception centre for asylum seekers in Kokkinotrimithia.

According to In-Cyprus, the woman reported the rape to Cyprus authorities on Thursday after being abused on Tuesday by five men who are also from Nigeria.

The police also said that the alleged sexual assault took place a few minutes after midnight

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has warned commercial drivers against using unpainted vehicles for transportation in the state.

The spokesperson for the agency, Taofiq Adebayo, in a statement, said in view of the need to comply with the laws and regulations guiding the operation of all commercial vehicle operators, the state government again warned that all intra-state commercial bus operators must ensure that their vehicles were painted in red or yellow with black stripes or be impounded by the government.

Adebayo said, “The General Manager of LASTMA, Bolaji Oreagba, gave the warning over the weekend in Oshodi, informing that the agency will commence an enforcement exercise on all unpainted commercial vehicles from Monday, November 7, 2022, across the state.
