The Ministry of Defence arm of the Russian government have made public that they have neutralized the air defences system of the Ukrainians with weapons they described as precision weapons.
In a statement on Thursday, February 24, they are quoted as saying,
“The military infrastructure of the Ukrainian military air bases have been put out of action. The air defenses of the armed forces have been neutralised”.
The Defence ministry of the Russian government also remarked that in their advance, Ukraine border forces “do not show any resistance” to their troops.
In the early hours of Thursday, shortly after Russian President, Vladmir Putin had announced his authorization of a ‘special military operation’, Russian troops arrived the Ukrainian south coast and fired missiles at many cities in Ukraine, including kiev (or Kyiv) the capital.
These spate of events come after tensions between Russia and Ukraine over the admittance of Ukraine into NATO had escalated in recent days.
