EFCC Arrests 45 Suspects For Internet Fraud In Enugu

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 45 suspected internet fraudsters from the Trans Ekulu area in Enugu State.

The Spokesman Wilson Uwujaren gave their names in a statement on Monday.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested seven suspected internet fraudsters in Ilorin.

The Spokesman Wilson Uwujaren said they were arrested at a hotel close to a popular mall in the Kwara capital.

The Suspects include two clerics and a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member.

The EFCC said the clerics were hired and lodged in the hotel to offer spiritual help to some of the alleged fraudsters.

The Suspects have volunteered useful information and would be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.

Four of the children who were abducted on a Kaduna-bound train in March have been released.

The children were abducted alongside their parents and other passengers [/b]when the terrorists bombed the rail track and gunned down some persons.

Different captives were released over a period of four months.

, Kaduna-based publisher who negotiated the release of some of the passengers, said the children and their parents were released after the intervention of Sheik Ahmad Gumi.

“Disturbed by the gory videos images of four teenage children belonging to same family he saw in the last video released by the attackers of the AK9 Train, Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Gumi for the first since the abduction of the innocent passengers of that train over 4 months ago has reached out to the abductors through his Media Consultant, sent Allah’s messages to them and consistently pleaded with them to consider the release of the poor children and their innocent parents. It was learnt that the health condition of two of the teenage children has deteriorated since the flogging incident that affected their helpless father. A total of additional 7 hostages were therefore released on Wednesday.”

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu, has condemned the recent threat by the minority lawmakers in the National Assembly to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari.

Recall that minority lawmakers in the Senate had last week given President Buhari six weeks to address the general insecurity in the country or risk impeachment.

The PDP caucus in the House of Representatives also joined in the six-week ultimatum after a meeting of the National Assembly PDP caucus.

Although the presidency described the impeachment threat as “babyish antics of the opposition”, some APC senators have backed the impeachment move.

Speaking during an interview with Trust TV on Tuesday, Senator Adamu described the move by the lawmakers to impeach President Buhari as a sorry development.

The APC chairman asserted that the minority lawmakers who initiated the impeachment threat are no longer planning to carry it out.

Ex-US President Donald Trump has said his Florida home was raided by the FBI, and that agents broke open a safe.

Mr Trump said in a statement that Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach was “occupied by a large group of FBI agents”.

Monday’s search was reportedly connected to an investigation into Mr Trump’s handling of official papers.

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission has said that singer, Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has been released from police custody in Tanzania.

A video that went viral on social media on Monday showed the moment Tanzanian authorities arrested the singer.

Although no official statement was issued by the authorities, The PUNCH learnt that the arrest may not be unconnected to the singer’s failure to perform at an event in the country.

Reacting, NiDCOM, in a tweet, revealed that the singer was being held at Oyster Bay Police Station Civil Police in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

“We are presently engaging our Mission and see what can be done. We will keep the public posted with our investigation. Thank you,” the Commission added.

Giving an update, NiDCOM said, “Kizz Daniel has been released. His legal team will, however, report back to the police tomorrow while he will subsequently return to Nigeria.

The Islamic Movement of Nigeria, on Monday, said security agents killed at least six of its members and injured about 40 other followers of its leader, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky.

In a short statement, IMN stated that the incident occurred during the group’s Ashura mourning procession in Zaria, Kaduna.

“Security forces have, today, Monday, gunned down at least seven followers of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky (H), and injured over 40 others during the Ashura mourning procession in Zaria which was observed peacefully across Nigeria and different parts of the world,” the statement read.

Also, the leader of the movement in Zaria, Abdulhamid Bello, alleged that a combined team of security operatives shot indiscriminately at the members.

Bello identified those killed to include Jafar Jushi, Kazeem Magume, Ali Samaru, Muhsin Zakzaky, Umar Fatika and another member who he could not identify as of the time of filing this report.

He added that the total casualty figures had yet to be ascertained, noting, however, that “a lot of them have been rushed to St Luke’s Hospital, Wusasa, while those in critical condition were taken to ABU Teaching Hospital, Shika l, also in Zaria.

Katsina State government on Monday returned more than 12,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) including women and children to their Shimfida community, in Jibia Local Government Area of the state. 

The returnees were dispersed from the area since March 10 following the abrupt withdrawal of military personnel from the area which led to incessant attacks by terrorists and left scores of people dead.

Prior to their return over 6,000 of the IDPs were camped at the Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS), Jibia, by the state government and the council area, while others who fled to the neighbouring Niger Republic were transported into Jibia yesterday.

The chairman of the council, Bishir Sabi’u, said an initial N88.6 million was released by the state government for the exercise followed by another N18m by Governor Aminu Masari for the provision of hospital drugs and logistics for both the IDPs and essential workers at the community.

Fans of the singer who had gathered at the venue of his advertised show in Tanzania left in anger and trashed the place after he failed to show up, viral videos have shown.

Bali town, the headquarters of Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State was on Sunday night attacked by bandits. 

Eyewitnesses told Punch that the bandits who rode into the town on motorcycles, killed a personnel of Taraba Marshall at a checkpoint near General Hospital before proceeding to individual houses to kill and abduct people.

Tiv central leader and Chief of Tiv in Bali, Zaki David Gbaa (Ter Tiv Bali II) told the publication that two of his subjects were also killed and scores, mostly women, were abducted in the attack.
